It has been over 6 weeks since everyone in our house has been free of sickness!! I thought that we were finally starting to get over everything when I got a call from Gemma yesterday saying that Dailey was wheezing when she breathes & she really didn't feel well. It was hard to know exactly what do to because I was in Yakima at work & she was in Ellensburg at daycare - not like I could just run over & take a look at her. Finally I asked Gemma if Dailey was her daughter if she would call the doctor & she said she probably would. Gemma is a wonderful mother of 3 kids so I totally trusted her judgement & called the doctor.
When the nurse first checked her out she told me she was really glad I brought her in right away then she left the room...I sat there thinking 'What does that mean?? What is wrong with my baby???" They did a few tests on her, listened to her lungs, checked her oxygen level (it was low), looked at her throat & her ears then the doctor told me she has 2 ear infections & bronchitis - I couldn't believe it! A month ago she had the flu for a week, she got better for a few days then she got pink eye, she got over that & has had allery symptoms for the last few weeks, but we all have so I didn't think much of it. They sent me home with a nebulizer & 2 perscriptions for her. The breathing treatments are a little tricky because she wants to hold the nebulizer by herself & she doesn't want to sit still for the whole 10 minutes. We are doing them every 4 hours & it seems to be helping. Justin got up in the night & held the nebulizer by her mouth while she was sleeping & I think that has really helped her today. When she got up she was breathing good & wasn't wheezy at all. We will continue the nebulizer through the weekend & hopefully we will all be well by Sunday so we can watch Travis race!!
Here is a picture of her trying to do her own breathing treatment...it didn't quite work out as she planned so I helped her the rest of the time.
